The seasonal change stuff in this is fantastic.
Where is this? I want to go to there.

CAN MORE FUN BE HAD?
"My bike looks sloppy, now I gotta fix it." Teehee
A short documentary called “Scrapertown” (part of a larger “California is a Place” project) about a group of cycling youth who call themselves The Scrapers, featured in Atlantic’s ongoing “What America Looks Like” project; of course, Los Angeles and New York have already been done.
What a beautiful story—and proactive hero, Champ—about a group of kids finding inspiration and solidarity in the midst of a place that can be one of the toughest. I spent 10 days in Oakland, and met a 13-year-old who described the corpse of a homicide she’d seen on her street corner, there for two days (just a note, I’m pretty surprised that Champ is riding around on his flashy bike with a USC jersey…USC???). A moving portrait of this inspiring group, and one of my new favorites (I’m posting it everywhere). I hope Champ’s dream of a big eco-friendly bike shop in East Oakland comes true!
