Cold day and the motivation to get out just wasn’t there. Then I saw my Burry jacket. Made me think about him, then Amy D. Both killed in training, doing their jobs. Then the guy - Joel or Josh, I think his name was - who got hit on HWY 1 recently, in a spot I’ve ridden many times on my way out to Half Moon Bay. All the people who no longer get to make that choice to ride or not ride. Been a while since I’d done a #ride4burry ride, and it got me out the door. I rode for Burry, but really it was for everyone.
Freezing on the Nisene descent. My fingers were screaming inside my gloves. But so good. Beautiful, and I’m lucky to have this out my door.
Transamerica Flashback, September 27, 2010. On this day, I climbed Chief Joseph Pass and had a magnificent 7 mile descent down the other side. Full photo set here
